E-E-A-T stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness — Google's framework for evaluating the quality and credibility of web content, increasingly applied to AI content selection as well.

E-E-A-T originated as a quality evaluator framework for Google's search quality raters. It has since become a de facto standard for content quality assessment across the broader SEO and GEO disciplines.

The four components: Experience refers to first-hand experience with the subject matter. Expertise refers to domain knowledge and credentials. Authoritativeness refers to recognition by peers and other authoritative sources. Trustworthiness refers to accuracy, transparency, and reliability.

For AI brand visibility, E-E-A-T signals matter because AI retrieval systems — particularly Google's AI Overviews — are built on the same underlying quality signals as traditional Google Search. Content that ranks well on E-E-A-T dimensions is more likely to be retrieved and cited in AI responses.
